About WX9GRB

WX9GRB is the club station at the National Weather Service Forecast Office (WFO GRB) in Green Bay, Wisconsin. We grew out of the Packerland Area Skywarn Society, a former group that maintained repeaters on 145.11 in Wabeno, and 147.27 in Green Bay. We are thankful for the efforts of our past members, as they have all retired onwards to better skies and sunny weather.

WX9GRB is not a standard Amateur Radio club, although it grew out of such a club (The North East Wisconsin Radio League).

WX9GRB works with other organizations, including public service-minded Amateur Radio clubs, ARES/RACES groups and any other bona-fide Amateur Radio club or public service organization. Some facilities owned by other Amateur Radio organizations in Green Bay, Wausau, and Chilton. We are very thankful for these clubs, and their generous service.

As part of its general mission, WX9GRB is responsible for staffing and maintaining the Amateur Radio station WFO GRB. Our role is not to manage every single aspect of weather spotting activities in North East Wisconsin. Rather, we manage the "final link" in the chain of weather net participants, and act as a liaison organization between the meteorologists, and the Amateur Radio weather spotting groups participating in NE Wisconsin.

WX9GRB holds informational and practice nets on the 4th Wednesday of every month, from April to November, and we also participate in Skywarn Recognition Day (SRD). We have an HF station at the weather office, but only use it on very special occasions. WX9GRB operators may also operate out of their homes, if station access is not available.

WX9GRB operates primarily on the following repeaters:
